The US State Department is concerned about the tense situation on the contact line between Armenian and Azerbaijan troops.  Hillary Clinton said that the US is prepared to do whatever it can to help reach a settlement based on the principle of the Helsinki final act. "I urge the presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia to work together and to take the steps necessary for peace not conflict," Clinton said,

Trend reports.

"We should do everything we can as quickly as possible to find a path to peace. At the forthcoming meeting of the two ministers in Paris on June 18 they will explore a new approach," she said.

The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France and the US - are currently holding peace negotiations. Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
