5.5-magnitude quake shakes southeastern Turkey

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.5 shook the southeastern province of Şırnak at 8:52 a.m. today, Hurriyet cites private broadcaster NTV as saying on its website.   

The quake happened at a depth of 5.4 kilometers with its epicenter located in the Silopi-Pınarönü district.   

Estimations of physical injuries or property damage are not known at this time.
