Egyptian parliament dissolved before the presidential elections
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe Secretary General of the lower chamber of the Egyptian parliament
was notified by the Council of the Military Forces that is currently ruling
the country about the dissolution of the parliament according to the
decision of the Constitutional Court, RIA Novosti reports.
The documents says that the decision of the court is enough to
dissolve the parliament.
In addition, the former deputies cannot even enter the building.
The Constitutional Court annuled the results of the elections of
one third of the deputies because the law on elections did not
correspond to the Constitutional Declaration of the country.
This decision was connected to the resolution about the participation
of independent and party candidates in single-mandate district
elections. The court believes that it violates the principle of
equal opportunities for independent and party candidates to be MPs.
The current parliament started its work on January 23rd 2012. About 70%
of the seats in it are held by Islamist parties.
