Russia's Lavrov and Kofi Annan discuss Syria

Russia has again called for holding an international conference on Syria and for key regional nations to take part, the Voice of Russia reports.

This kind of forum could help end the bloodshed in Syria and launch a political settlement there, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told the UN and Arab League special envoy to Syria, Kofi Annan, in a telephone conversation earlier today, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry.

During the conversation, held at Annan’s initiative, the UN and Arab League envoy came out for agreeing an international approach to a settlement of the Syrian crisis.
