Baku hosts international conference of ombudsmen

Baku is hosting the tenth international conference of ombudsmen for protection of human rights in extreme situations, 1news.az reports.

The conference of June 18 marks the 10th anniversary of ombudsmen and the 20th anniversary of Azerbaijani membership in the UNESCO.

Opening speeches will be made by Ombudswoman Elmira Suleimanova, Azerbaijani Vice Premier and Chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and Forced Migrants Ali Gasanov and First Secretary of the Azerbaijani National Commission for the UNESCO Gunay Efendiyeva.

Speeches will be made by Chairwoman of the Parliamentary Committee for Human Rights Rabiyat, Minister for Emergencies Kyamaleddin Heydarov, Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources Hussein Bagirov, Director of the Department for Human Rights and Discrimination of the Council of Europe Ralf-Rennes Weingartner and Toronto Ombudswoman Fiona Krin.

Hidzhran Guseinova, Chairwoman of the State Committee for Families, Women and Children, Ilgar Ragimov and Deputy Minister for Labour and Social Protection will make speeches at the session on protection of human rights of population groups.
