Turkmenistan responds to Azerbaijani protest

The Turkmen Foreign Ministry has responded to Azerbaijani protest over Kyapyaz, Trend reports.

The protest over attempts to detain a Turkmen vessel by Azerbaijani border guards in the Caspian Sea was made on June 16, 2012. Turkmen Ambassador to Azerbaijan Toyly Komekov was invited to meet Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Halaf Halafov.

The sides signed an agreement in 2008 that no exploration and extraction would be organized on the crossing line of their Caspian sectors. Turkmenistan is trying to carry out seismological research at one of the forbidden areas, the Kyapyaz Field.
