Russian PM wants to improve Caucasus life

Grozny is hosting a session of the governmental commission for socio-economic development of the North Caucasian Federal District. Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and his Cabinet attend the session. He noted that the goal is to improve the situation in the region, make it more secure and stable.
One of the first initiatives is reduction of unemployment from 16% to 5%. Housing construction is to increase. Business needs stimulation. The government will provide state guarantees worth 50 billion rubles.
Medvedev noted the need for development of infrastructure and security for the Northern Caucasus Resorts. He ordered adjustments to federal purpose programs and programs of natural monopolies, including Gazprom, FSK, MRSK.
The Interior Ministry, FSB, Northern Caucasus Resorts need coordination. Medvedev demanded the program for development of the North Caucasian Federal District until 2025 to be improved by December 1, 2012. The program was discussed at a governmental commission in May 2011. The program was ordered to be improved by August 2011.
Medvedev reminded that socio-economic development of the region relies on the federal purpose program for development of Russia’s south, Chechnya and Ingushetia. Over 130 billion rubles were provided for their realization, 120 billion of them from the federal budget. About 120 schools, over 100 hospitals and polyclinics, 50 cultural and sports facilities, over 800,000 square meters of housing were built and over 270 km of roads constructed. Housing and utilities infrastructure improved.
