Putin signs law on patents, preserving single tax on imputed income to 2018

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a federal law that extends the simplified tax system based on a patent, but preserves the single tax on imputed income to 2018, RIA-Novosti reports.

The document states that organizations and individual entrepreneurs can choose to pay the single tax on imputed income only voluntarily.

An entrepreneur acquiring a patent for a period from 1 to 12 months will have the opportunity to hire no more than ten employees, and its income from the sale during the tax period shall not exceed 60 million rubles.

The patent system will not apply to partnership businesses or trust managements. Patents cannot be acquired for passenger rail service, air and freight transport, communications, utilities, travel agency services, health and fitness services, financial intermediation, insurance and advertising.

The tax rate for the patent system is set at 6%. The object of taxation is the potential annual income of an individual entrepreneur. The tax period is one calendar year.

The size of the potential income of individual entrepreneurs will be established according to the laws of Russian subject territories. The amount of potential income may be no less than 100 thousand rubles and no more than 1 million rubles.
