EU approves Turkmenistan's role in energy security

The EU, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan signed a trilateral deal on construction of the Trans-Caspian Gas Pipeline, as stated after a meeting of Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with EU representative Aurelia Bushez in Ashkhabad, Trend reports.


Bushez approved the diversification of transit of energy carriers through Middle Asia. Turkmenistan helps fulfill the rising demands for energy resources in Europe.


Turkmenistan promised 40 billion cubic meters of gas annually for the EU in the future. 10 billion cubic meters will be provided by Petronas (Malaysia) and 30 billion will be provided through the East-West Gas Pipeline from the Galkynysh Field, the world's second largest, located in the eastern part of the country in the Caspian Sea.
Berdimuhamedov said at the Caspian summit in Baku that Turkmenistan is devoted to the construction of a pipeline through the Caspian Sea.
