First details of Georgian Cabinet reshuffle emerge

Spokesman of the Georgian president Manana Mandzhgaladze gave the first details on a reshuffle of the Cabinet of Prime Minister Vano Merabishvili, News Georgia reports.

Former Home Minister Ivane (Vano) Merabishvili has become the new Prime Minister. He appointed Defense Minister Bacho Akhalaya as the Home Minister, Education Minister Dmitry Shashkin as the Defense Minister, head of the National Center for Exams and former head of the Academy of the Georgian Home Ministry Khatiya Dekanoidze as the Education Minister.

Minister for Refugees and Settlement Koba Subeliani will be replaced by Minister for Culture and Education of Abkhazia Dali Khomeriki.

Businessman Paaty Trapaidze may become the new Minister for Labour.

Merabishvili became the PM on Sunday. He promised to stress efforts on agriculture and healthcare.
