Iran plans to stop steel imports in 2015

Iranian deputy minister of industry and mines Ali Kheratinik said on
his visit to the metallurgical combine works Bafte (in Kerman
province) that Iran is building 8 metallurgy plants, Iran News
reports, citing Mehr.


He said that with completion of construction of those plants, Iran
will increase steel production to 35 million tons and will reach the
level of self-sustainability in metallurgy within the program of
2010-2015. 15 million tons will be exported.


He added that the government is giving great support to the
construction. The plants have strict schedules for their launches.
