Iran finds huge iron reserves in Lut desert

Iran has discovered huge reserves of high-quality Iron ore in the country's Central Lut desert, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad announced on Wednesday, Fars reports.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of a sponge iron production complex in the Central province of Isfahan today, Ahmadinejad said that Iron reserves in the Lut desert have the purity level of 95%. 

As regards the details of the newly discovered reserves, the Iranian president stated, "Just in one case of these mineral discoveries, 50 billion tons of iron reserves have recently been discovered."
