"Siberia" for Georgia

The Russian airline company "Siberia" - S7 has received permission to carry out charter flights between Moscow and Tbilisi starting from July 1st.
The Georgian air transport department's administration considers Russia has insisted on granting permission to the S-7 airlines on the basis of so-called parity rights: "On May 24th, the Georgian company "Airzena - Georgian airways" started carrying out charter flights to Moscow", said a representative of the department, Eka Mamladze, "Its permission runs out on July 1st. Apparently, our Russian counterparts decided to involve a Russian company, so it could benefit from this route as well. But we had no grounds to deny the S-7 airline's application for flights".
Tbilisi officials do not exclude a situation, in which by the end of he summer "Airzena" will carry out flights. At least there is such an unofficial agreement. The press-secretary of "Airzana" Nino Giorbadze said the company expects that their flight permit will be prolonged until November 1st.
The sides have not yet started official intergovernmentals on reopening regular flights, as the Georgian side is not willing to resolve this issue until Moscow changes its intentions over flights between Moscow and Sukhumi. Tbilisi considers such plans to be a violation of the state's sovereignty.
"Siberia"-S7 airlines carried out regular flights between Tbilisi and Moscow until 2006, when Russia and Georgia cut all transport links due to a scandal involving four Russian officers detained and charged with spying.
