Turkmenistan has confirmed its readiness to continue talks on the Kyapyaz (Serdar) Field in response to Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov’s statement on July 9, 2012, Trend reports.

Mammadyarov said that Turkmenistan made no official requests to consider the field in arbitrary courts.

The Turkmen Foreign Ministry published the official position of the state on delimitation of the Caspian Sea with Azerbaijan on August 4, 2009.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said on June 18, 2012, that Turkmenistan was attempting seismological studies at Kyapyaz, despite a ban on all activities in the area signed by the two states in 2008. The ban was to stay in force until status of the Caspian Sea is settled.

Turkmenistan filed a protest note on June 16, 2012, for preventing its research vessel from studying the area. Mammadyarov said that no such notes have been sent.
