Armenia to increase age requirement for marriage

Men and women in Armenia must get married after the same age: 19 years old. Armenia’s Ministry of Justice presented a bill to the government on changes to the Family Code, News.am reports.

The bill will be reviewed during the government sitting on Thursday. According to the current Family Code, women are allowed to get married at the age of 17, men at the age of 18. The bill is also related to the need to eliminate gender disparities between men and women in Armenia.
