Commander of Russian Ground Forces arrives in South Ossetia

South Ossetian President Leonid Tibilov has met General-Colonel Vladimir Chirkin, Commander of the Russian Ground Forces, in Tskhinvali, Res reports.

Tibilov announced a start to realization of agreements reached by president of Russia and South Ossetia in Sochi.

Tibilov and Chirkin discussed pensions for South Ossetian servicemen, Russian presence in South Ossetia, technical support, construction of a road from Ugardanta in the Dzausky District bypassing the military town of the 4th Russian military base.

Chirkin plans to inspect the base. His visit is marking the 20th anniversary of Russian peacekeepers at the Georgian-Ossetian zone.
