SOCAR to invest in Tajik refinery

Azerbaijan and Tajikistan plan to invest in building a refinery in the southern part of Tajikistan, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon said on Friday, Trend reports.
Rahmon discussed establishment of a joint venture with the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) and Foster Wheeler in Baku. The joint venture will carry out feasibility studies of the enterprise and discuss cooperation in extraction and processing of oil in Tajikistan.
The Tajik president visited some Azerbaijani enterprises and had negotiations on cooperation with related structures. Rahmon visited a solar plant, Sumgayit technological park producing equipment and spare parts of electric plants.
Rahmon paid a visit to Green Tech, an enterprise of Azersun Holding. Its greenhouses cover 10 hectares, growing tomatoes and other vegetables. It produces up to 6,000 tons of products. Only 1.5 months a year are used for processing and preparation of land for seeding. Harvest is collected for 10.5 months. Most products are exported to Europe at low prices.
Investors expressed interest in establishing a similar enterprise in Tajikistan, a state with fertile lands and good climate.
