The committee for constitutional legislation of the Federation Council of Russia has proposed scrapping the bill on the single day of voting (the second Sunday of September), RIA Novosti cites a member of the committee, Anatoly Lyskov, on Wednesday.

The committee for federal policy made the same recommendation.

Setting the single voting day on the second Sunday of September would switch all campaigning to the summer, the traditional period of vacations for many voters. It will be a problem for meetings with voters and informing them. Signature collection will be complicated for deputies.

Formation of electoral commissions during the summer may also be a problem, senators believe.
