Georgia mobilizes reserves for flood-hit eastern region

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has had a special meeting with the government over the disaster in the Eastern and Southern Georgia and Telavi, Trend reports.

Defense Minister Dmitry Shashkin became responsible for mobilization of reserves to restore the region. Restoration will start in Kakheti, Mtskhet-Mtianeti and Samtskhe-Javakheti.

Saakashvili noted that there has been no such disaster for 100 years. Prime Minister Vano Merabishvili will supervise construction activities. Farmers will have 100% of their losses compensated by the government.

Georgian Energy Minister Alexander Khetaguri said that power will be restored in 2-3 days, gas will be supplied tomorrow. Water will be brought in containers.

The president will meet in the evening the round up the day.
