Iran is slated to showcase a collection of latest works by veteran calligrapher Esrafil Sharchi during the country’s 9th International Bismillah Festival, Press TV reports.

Shirchi has already finished two works of Hilyah inspired by the Arabic word, Bismillah, which is used as the collective name of the phrase bismillahi-r Rahmani-r rahim meaning 'In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.'

Hilyah is a 'word picture' in which sentences and phrases are written in the form of birds or animals.

“I have also finished another work featuring the word Bismillah in a background of Persian arabesque patterns known as Shamseh,” Shirchi told Fars News Agency.

“I have inscribed Qur’anic verses inside the Shamseh patterns using brown and golden orange colors which remind you of old Persian architecture.”
