Trial over Yerevan balloon incident starts in Armenia

The case on explosion of balloons at the Republican Square in Yerevan has been concluded and passed to the court, a high-ranking official of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Armenian police Arsen Ayvazyan said, NEWS.am reports.

Private businessman Serob Bozoyan, aged 54, is the main suspect, accused of violating safety standards. He has no business organization and realizes orders at home.

The balloon accident happened at the Republican Square in Yerevan on May 4, during a meeting of the Republican Party as part of the electoral campaign. Balloons used for decorating the stage started exploding, they were filled with methane, not helium. 154 people were hospitalized with burns.
