Ossetian community of Syria requests Russia for evacuation

The Ossetian community of Syria has filed letters to Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Ossetian Leader Taymuraz Mamsurov requesting evacuation, Ossetian Radio and Television reports.

Over 50 members of North Caucasus communities have died since early 2012. Head of the Ossetian community Hisham Koshkha (Albegov) signed the letters. He added that over 100 out of 700 Ossetians living in Syria are specialists with higher education, 62 are university students, 54 are school pupils. 630 of the Ossetians live in Damascus.

Mamsurov said that evacuation will be granted to people named Albegov, Kozyrev, Tsirikhov, Kubatiyev, Kantemirov, Makoyev, Tuganov, Abisalov, Temirov, Batyrov, Bazoyev, Tsarikayev, Baroyev, Kabaloyev, Tsomartov and others.
