Azerbaijan to increase use of alternative energy to 20% before 2020

Preparations for the program on development of Azerbaijani alternate energy sources and technologies will be ready in November, as stated by Akim Badalov, head of the State Company for Alternate and Renewable Energy Sources, at a presentation of the plan for alternate and renewable energy sources and energy efficiency, Trend reports.

Alternate energy sources will cover 20% of energy production before 2020. Emissions of greenhouse gases will drop by 20%.

Azerbaijan will produce 600 MW with regeneration of solar power in 2020, 290 MW in 2015. Wind will give 800 MW in 2020, 240 MW in 2015.

Solar power will give 350 MW in 2020, 50 MW in 2015.

Hydro plants will produce 80 MW in 2015, 150 MW in 2020. Alternate energy sources will give 2500 MW in 2020, 830 MW in 2015.
