A Bronze Age settlement has been found in Gum-Bashi in

Karachaevo-Cherkessia. Archeologists are still at the early stage of

excavation, but the settlement is presumed to date back to the 17 or 18th

centuries BC.

The archaeological site was spotted by space satellite; it was located

because of a massive structure built in the mountains. The upper part

of the wood has rotted but the foundations remained.

Anatoly Kontorovich, Associate Professor of Archaeology at Moscow State

University said that this is a big historical discovery. He noted that

it is actually a new layer of archaeological sites not investigated

before, because it is located very high in the mountains.

Archeologists promise to give more information when they complete their work.
