Saudi Arabia invites Iranian president to Mecca summit

Saudi Arabia has officially invited Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to attend an emergency Islamic summit in Mecca, Press TV cites an Iranian official of the Presidential Office as saying.
“The Saudi ambassador to Tehran has presented the official invitation to the Islamic Republic’s president,” Mohammad Sheikhan told IRNA on Saturday.
He added that no “definite decision” has been made yet about the issue, noting that various aspects of President Ahmadinejad’s presence at the summit are being studied.
Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz has called for an emergency Islamic summit to be held in Mecca in mid-August to address the major issues facing the Muslim world and the latest developments in the region.
