Former imam attacked in Dagestan

Unidentified assailants have attacked Makardin Mujaidov, a former imam of Endireyaule of the Khasavyurtovsky District of Dagestan, at about 1 am this morning, RIA Novosti reports.

The assailants wounded the former imam with gunshots.

tatarstan Mufti Ildus Fayzov was attacked and a high-ranking official of the local Muslim Administration Valiulla Yakupov was killed in July. Both were well-known fighters against extremism.

Seven people, including CEO of Idel-Hajj, Rustem Gataullin, were arrested for the crime. Dozens of people are being checked.
