Turkmen president visits Turkey

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov is on a visit to Istanbul and Izmir, Trend reports.

Turkmenistan and Turkey cooperate in development of transport infrastructure, modernization of ports, tourism. Turkey is interested the national tourism zone of Avaz on the Caspian coast.

Turkey has over 1270 investment projects realized in Turkmenistan. Over 1200 of them are worth over $15 billion, 26 worth over €2 billion, 26 worth over 56 billion manats.

The two states cooperate in energy. Turkey wants to help in transporting Caspian energy resources to Europe through Iran or along the Caspian Sea bed through Azerbaijan.

Trade turnover between the two states increased by 25% in 2011, compared with 2010.

Berdimuhamedov is making his second visit to Turkey this year, invited by President Abdullah Gul.
