Azerbaijan insures first space satellite

Azercosmos has signed a deal with Marsh (UK) on insurance of the first satellite Azerspacve-1, Trend reports.

The contract was signed for a year. The British company will compensate any failures of the satellite.

Azerspace-1 will arrive to the Kura spaceport in late 2012. It is planned to be launched in early 2013. Arianspace put it in orbit. The satellite was developed by Orbital Sciences Corporation (USA). It will be at 46 degrees of east longitude, according to a deal with Malasian operator MEASAT.
