Russian PM to discusses improvements in United Russia

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev believes that competitive elections to the central executive committee of United Russia prove modernization of the party it needed so much, RIA Novosti reports.

On Friday, 5 out of 25 candidates were approved: Secretary of the regional office in Komi Igor Leonov, heads of regional executive committees Maksim Vladimirov (Novgorod), Alexander Motovilo (Chelyabinsk), Olga Shetinina (Nizhny Novgorod) and Interior Minister of the Ulyanovsk Region Dmitry Travkin. One of them will become the head of the party’s CEC.

Medvedev recommended the party to be more communicative with voters. Opposition has criticized the party for neglecting people on many occasions.

The PM urged Vice Speaker of Parliament and Secretary of the General Council of United Russia Sergey Neverov to be more responsible.
