Karabakh should not remain a white spot on the map of Europe
Read on the website Vestnik Kavkaza"The principles of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict resolution remain unchanged. These principles create a serious basis for a serious process. It is also very important for the publics of the two countries to know the content of the process of negotiations. The co-chairing countries should stick to these principles," special representative of the European Union for the South Caucasus Peter Semneby said, while taking a stance on the statement issued by the presidents of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries, APA reports. The diplomat said the recent statement of the presidents of the co-chairing countries was a reiteration of what was said a year ago.
Asked about the plan two years ago to visit the occupied territories together with the Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh, Peter Semneby said:"This plan was not realized. But I hope I will go there. I am not saying who will accompany me. The main thing is to establish contact with the people living in Nagorno-Karabakh. Karabakh should not remain like a white spot on the map of Europe and the region. Contact should be established with all parties concerned. The conflict will not be solved without contact," he said.
Peter Semneby also spoke about the abolition of his post. "Discussions are being held how to organize the new European diplomacy. As an element of this discussion, there are views about a special institution of representation. The discussions are not over yet," he said.
