Azerbaijani climbers conquer peak of Korzhenevsky

Azerbaijani climbers Firuz Dadashov, Rufat Gojayev and Sirkhan Mamedov reached the peak of Korzhenevsky (7105 m) of Mt. Pamir, one of the tallest mountains in Middle Asia, on August 11.

They marked the 100th anniversary of Azerbaijani conductor and composer Niyaz Tagizade-Hajibekov.

The expedition was organized by the Azerbaijani Alpinism Federation, Ministry for Youth and Sports, Heydar Aliyev Fund.

President of the Azerbaijani Alpinism Federation Israfil Ashurly told Vestnik Kavkaza that the climbers were in good condition and will climb the Peak of Ismail Samoni (7495 m).

The expedition reached the Peak of Abu Ali Ibn Sino (7134 m) on June 19 in the honour of Panah Ali Khan Javanshihr, founder of the Nagorno-Karabakh Khanate.
