Georgia starts paying flood compensation

Georgia has started paying compensations to the population of flood-hit Kakheti Region (Eastern Georgia). 18 685 families will receive compensations. The process started at the Akuri Village in the Telavi District, Trend reports.

Liberty Bank will make the payments. The first category of people will receive 1500 lari ($1 = 1.64 lari), the second 1000 lari, the third 500 lari. Most people belong to the first category.

Kakheti was hit by the flood on July 19. Houses, roads, power lines, gas and water systems were damaged, harvests destroyed, domestic animals and birds died.
