Leader pardons 130 security prisoners ahead of Eid al-Fitr

 

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has granted clemency to over 100 prisoners held on security charges on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

Tehran Prosecutor Abbas Jafari-Dolatabadi said on Tuesday that Ayatollah Khamenei has agreed to the pardon request of 130 security prisoners who had expressed remorse for the crimes they committed, Fars News Agency reported.

Jafari-Dolatabadi added that 90 prisoners who have received the Leader’s pardon are currently in jail and will be released.

Tehran prosecutor noted that Ayatollah Khamenei has also ordered prison sentences of another group of security prisoners to be commuted.
