Police check for a terrorist attack at football match in Makhachkala

The police of Dagestan are checking information about alleged preparations for a terrorist attack during a football match between Anzhi FC and Zenit FC, RIA Novosti reports, with reference to the Ministry of the Interior.

The football match is due to be held in Makhachkala as part of the fifth round of the Russian Championship on the evening of August 19.

"Internet media indicated that one of the fans travelling to the capital of Dagestan to attend the match between Anzhi and Zenith plans to commit a terrorist attack. This message is being carefully checked by all the operational services of the law-enforcement agencies," the release says.

However, the agency reports that no additional security measures are planned during the match.

"Like in the run-up of other matches, the stadium will be examined with the use of search dogs, entry will be made only through metal detectors, canine services will be on duty on the day of the match. In addition, in the morning all parked vehicles will be removed from the territory adjacent to the stadium "Dynamo",- the statement says.
