Palace of Culture named after Shita Edisultanov is opened in Grozny
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaIn Grozny the renovated Palace of Culture named after People's Artist of the Chechen-Ingush Republic Shita Edisultanov has been opened, the press service of the Chechen leadership reports.
Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov noted in his speech at the opening of cultural centers that Shita Edisultanov was a popular favourite, one of the first People’s Artists and the founder of the national song and dance group, the author of many humorous stories from the life of the Chechen people. "He lived close to the Palace of Culture after his return to his homeland from deportation. This man made a great contribution to the development of Chechen folklore. His distinctive work has always delighted the hearts of people," Kadyrov said.
He expressed confidence that this palace will become the cultural center of the Zavodskoi district. Among those invited there was the son of Edisultanov, Kazbek Edisultanov, who thanked Kadyrov for perpetuating the memory of his father. The residents of the villages of Aldy and Chernorechye also expressed gratitude to the head of the republic and the builders for such a beautiful building.
In the past the Palace of Culture was called the Palace of Culture of Chemists, where local petrochemical industry workers would rest. It was built in 1957. During the two wars the building was severely damaged.
Today in two acres of the adjacent territory there is a park with a fountain, volleyball, basketball and football grounds. In two months construction works renovated the building; the spacious rooms will be occupied by children for various creative classes, and an assembly hall will house more than 400 spectators and surprise them with its classic appearance and good acoustics.
