The main goal of the Russian government is to replace imported aircraft from the domestic market of air freighting, Russian Vice Premier Dmitry Rogozin believes, RIA Novosti reports.

The official says that Russian air companies need to guarantee that they would buy Russian aircraft. Rogozin added that he negotiated the issue with Vice Premier Arkady Dvorkovich, who agreed to organize a meeting with air companies and manufacturers.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said in Novosibirsk in August that Russia needs own regional aircraft, built by national specialists or with foreign assistance. The Transportation Ministry and the Ministry for Industry and Trade were ordered to prepare proposals to build aircraft for regional and local passenger transport.

Sukhoi Superjet-100 (SSJ-100) is the latest national short-haul jet developed in Russia. It has a minimal of 75 seats. The Transportation Ministry said that such demand for tickets will occur in 5-7 years.
