Drunk driver damages statue of Lenin in Mozdok

The driver of a Kamaz truck was arrested today in the North Ossetian town of
Mozdok. In a state of drunkenness, he damaged the statue of Lenin in
the town's square. The driver has been charged with vandalism, the
Interior Ministry of North Ossetia reports.

The monument fell to the ground and broke into pieces. The detainee
claims that his action had no political meaning.


The Interior Ministry stressed that the event has no political agenda
and is an act of ordinary hooliganism.
