Japan recommends Kazakh president for Nobel Prize

Japanese lawmakers recommended Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev for the Nobel Peace Prize, Japanese MP Hiroyuki Mopiama said at the international nuclear forum in Astana, Trend reports.

Over 200 foreign guests from 75 states and over 20 international organizations, including the UN and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), are attending it.

Kazakhstan is hosting the international forum for the second time. President Nursultan Nazarbayev wants to stop nuclear tests, he closed the Semipalatinsk nuclear range, scrapped the nuclear arsenal and proclaimed Central Asia free of nuclear weapons.

Nazarbayev proposed setting August 29 as the World Day of Ban on Nuclear Weapons three years ago. The UN approved it.
