Convict sentenced for life pardoned by Azerbaijani president
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaAzerbaijani officer Ramil Safarov, convicted for life in Hungary, has been extradited to Azerbaijan and pardoned by President Ilham Aliyev, Trend reports.
The criminal case against the officer was initiated on February 19, 2004, during his studies of English within the framework of the Partnership for Peace program in Budapest. Safarov killed Armenian officer Gurgen Markaryan for insulting Azerbaijani people killed in the war of Nagorno-Karabakh and the Azerbaijani flag.
Safarov’s relatives had to leave their home, some were killed during the Khojaly Massacre and the war in Nagorno-Karabakh. Safarov lived at the Jebrail District and witnessed the tragedies.
