Ingushetia celebrates 240 years as part of Russia

Ingushetia is celebrating 240 years as part of Russia. The main celebrations will take place in the city of Malgobek, ITAR-TASS reports.

Flowers will be laid in the morning at World War Two monuments and an exhibition of work by Ingush artists will open in the city’s cultural center.

A concert and a firework display will take place in the evening. Schools and museums are also organizing exhibitions on the theme of “240 years with Russia!”

On March 17-19, 1770, representatives of Ingush elders signed the agreement that made Ingushetia part of Russia.
