NAM "creating new global framework" - Ahmadinejad

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) will seek to create the infrastructure for the management of world affairs.

In an interview with IRIB in Tehran late on Tuesday, Ahmadinejad said that the infrastructure is required for the fulfillment of “sustainable peace with global participation.”

During its three-year presidency of the NAM, Iran will follow the movement’s recent decisions to increase its functionality throughout the world, he said.

“One of our major missions is creating structures” to meet the demands of NAM member states on the international political scene, Ahmadinejad added. 

The Iranian president noted that Tehran is in favor of the participation of all countries in international affairs to fight corruption, which is created by the monopoly of power. 

“In any conflict, at least one of the warring parties is fighting for power and hegemony,” Ahmadinejad stated. 

He also said that Iran seeks peace and friendship with all countries in the world, except for the Israeli regime and the US government. 

President Ahmadinejad praised Iran's success in holding the 16th Summit of the NAM despite Western propaganda, adding that during the summit Iran “renewed its friendships with many nations.”
