Earthquake in Iran’s Fars

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 happened in south Iran, RIA Novosti reports.
The earthquake was registered 64 km south-west of Lar (Fars Province) at 6.27 am. Its center was 39.6 km deep.
Iran is part of the top 10 seismologically-active areas. An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 hit Bam in December 2003, killing over 31,000 people and injuring 42,000. The city and its fortresswere destroyed.
