Kakheti loses harvest due to natural disaster

Due to natural disasters, the Kakheti region in Georgia has lost 30-35% of

its expected harvest, Georgia Online reports. Kakheti processed

2,500 tons of "Saperavi" grapes and 500 tons of "Rkatsiteli". According

to members of "Rtveli - 2012" (harvesting staff ), 700 tons of grapes

were damaged by hail and this will not be subsidized. Winemakers bought

grapes at 0.40 lari (7.67 rubles) per 1 kg. The harvest in the region

will continue until October 15.
