First step towards Brazil

The Russian national football team led by Fabio Capello won its first game in the qualifying round of the 2014 world championship.

Russia - Northern Ireland 2:0

The Russian football players defeated the Northern Irish team, which may not be a great one, but is still a serious opponent. Few teams can defeat the Northern Irish easily. This game was not easy at all, but the Russian players showed that they took the game seriously. The Russian team took control of the game and did not allow the Northern Irish even to hope for a draw. Still, the Russians did not manage to score a goal in the first half hour of the game.
Even though it was the first game played with the Italian coach and experts believe it's too early to judge, it seems like the team is playing well. It looks like Capello encouraged the players with his confidence.

Azerbaijan - Israel 1:1
Luxembourg - Portugal 1:2

The Azerbaijani team played to a draw with the Israelis and the Portuguese team defeated Luxembourg's team with difficulty.

Malta - Armenia 0:1

The Armenia football players had hard times during their game against the Maltese team. Only after an hour did Sarkisov manage to score the only goal in the game.

Kazakhstan - Ireland 1:2

The Kazakhstan - Ireland game almost ended with a big stir. The Kazakh players held the score at 1:0 (in favour of their team) for a long time, but eventually the Irish team won.

Georgia - Belarus 1:0

The Georgian team was placed in a difficult situation, but Tornike Okriashvili scored a goal and brought victory to his team.
