Baku hosts international congress of tunnelling and underground space

Transportation plays a vital role in large cities, Shaig Efendiyev, head of Azertunelmetrotikinti and President of the Azerbaijani Tunnelling Association, said at an international congress on tunnelling and underground space on Monday, Trend reports.

Subway construction is also of great importance, he added. Azerbaijan pays special attention to expansion of transport lines and construction of new subway stations, according to a 20-year program of the Baku Subway.

In-Mo Lee, head of the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association, said that the Azerbaijani Tunnelling Association had joined the organization 1.5 years ago. Organizing the congress in Baku will improve and develop ties between members of the international organization.
