Russian religious organizations to continue using land

The latest amendments to the Civil Code will not take away the right of religious organizations to use land for free, as stated by nun Xenia of the legal service of Moscow Patriarchy, Interfax reports.

Patriarch Kirill wrote a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin. He said in the letter that most land of religious organizations belonged to state and municipal structures and was handed to religious organizations for free in 2010.

The Russian parliament has opened the autumn session recently. Lawmakers will consider amendments to the Civil Code.
