"Uzdunrobita" assets become property of Uzbekistan

The Tashkent City Criminal Court on Monday delivered its verdict against four executives of the "Uzdunrobita," the Uzbek filial of the "Mobile TeleSystems" (MTS). The court has sentenced them to various suspended sentences and fines, and made all assets of the "Uzdunrobita" property of the state, Interfax reports referring to a source in the government circles.

The Prosecutor's Office of Uzbekistan accused the leading managers "Uzdunrobita" of withdrawing funds from the company through the purchase of equipment at inflated prices, and in "organizing a criminal group in order to gain uncontrolled profits."

First inspections against the "Uzdunrobita", the largest mobile operator in Uzbekistan, took place in June.
