Raffi Ovannisyan, leader of the Heritage Party of Armenia, said today that he plans to run for president in February 2013, News Armenia reports.

He spoke about 12 basic points of his electoral campaign, noting that the new administration should only operate for one presidential term and that the fourth president of Armenia should not be reelected.

Ovannisyan said that the upcoming elections should be the first democratic polls since Armenia’s becoming independent in 1991. He added that Armenia should turn into a parliamentary republic in 5 years.

The Heritage Party is liberal-democratic, founded by former Foreign Minister Raffi Ovannisyan in 2002. The party has 5 out of 131 seats of parliament with Free Democrats.
