Parliament Elections in Georgia: dreams come true

The opposition coalition Georgian Dream won 52.77% (159730 votes) and remains the leader of the parliamentary elections. The ruling party United National Movement won 42.08% (127375 votes). The rest of the parties had less than 5%.
Thus, the proportional system shows that the coalition’s breakaway increased from 51.26% (after processing of 5.26% of protocols) to 57.13% (after processing of 9.9% of protocols); then it decreased to 54.02% (after processing of 12.08%) and by this time it has also decreased by 1.25%. The ruling party has the dynamics: 43.85% - 38.14% - 41.01% - 42.08%.
According to preliminary data, Georgian Dream is the leader in 28 out of 73 districts. Saakashvili’s party – in 24 districts. The Central Election Committee hasn’t presented data on 21 districts yet.
At the same time, the leader of Georgian Dream, Bidzina Ivanishvili, called representatives of United National Movement for cooperation. “UNM has many distinct representatives, and we are ready to open doors to cooperation with them,” Ivanishvili said. At the same time he called UNM “the opposition party.”
Also Ivanishvili expressed hope for returning of Georgian citizenship and being elected to the position of the new prime minister. The leader of Georgian Dream thinks that in the future the coalition can divide into several parties in the parliament.
Vestnik Kavkaza reported earlier that on Monday the parliamentary elections were held in Georgia. 77 deputies from 150 candidates will be elected according to the proportional system. Two election coalitions and 14 parties took part in the elections, they can win places in the parliament if they gain 5% of the votes.
