Kazakh representative to UNESCO becomes committee chairman

Asel Utegenova, Kazakh representative to the UNESCO Executive Council, has become the Chairwoman of the UNESCO Committee for Conventions and Recommendations, News Kazakhstan reports.

Kazakhstan will continue chairing the committee until the end of the UNESCO General Assembly session in November 2013. The committee has considered 29 messages on human rights.

The Committee for Conventions and Recommendations is an auxiliary structure of the UNESCO Executive Council formed at the 70th session of the Executive Council in 1965. 30 states were part of the committee in 2011-2013.
